The West of Scotland Playscheme Advisory Forum is a voluntary constituted body, at present funded by six local authorities for (Playscheme / Out of School Care / After School Care), Travel Passes, Insurance, Annual Conference and Yearly Handbook.
It is managed by a voluntary management committee made up of volunteers, which includes a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Minute Secretary and Treasurer. Meetings are held quarterly and are attended by Playscheme volunteers, representatives of Out of School Care, After School Care, participating Councils, Strathclyde Partnership for Transport and any other interested party.
Each group, from participating councils, may be represented at forum meetings, with volunteer’s expenses being reimbursed at the end of each meeting. The agenda for these meetings include all current relevant issues to groups, but also provides useful information on a wide range of topics, as well as networking with groups from other areas. If your group has a particular issue, this may be raised at the Forum meeting.
It is important to attend, to ensure groups are equally represented throughout the different authorities.
This year the Forum will again be hosting a two- day residential conference in November with a variety of Speakers and workshops. At present, the contents of the conference are already being discussed. The committee is hoping to maintain and build on last years’ success, to offer more groups information on a wide range of topics, relevant to your organisation, including current legislation, which will have implications for all groups.
Finally, the Forum produces this handbook, which we hope you will find useful. If you have any suggestions for future editions, please tell us.
Remember it’s your Forum and we want you to be involved as much as possible!
Please note that references to ‘Playschemes’ in this Handbook also includes ‘Out of School Care’ and ‘After School Care’.
Look forward to hearing your views at our meetings
